Transgender and Non-binary Competition policy

Swim England's updated Transgender and Non-binary Competition policy will come into effect from 1 September 2023.

The revised policy was published back in April and was introduced in a bid to create a ‘fully-inclusive, non-discriminatory competitive environment’.

The policy will go live and be fully implemented from 1 September 2023 meaning all competitions / competitors will need to comply from this date. Exceptions do exist where swimming competition licenses have already been granted or leagues have already begun.

It is important to note this policy refers only to Swim England competition (including those organised by our member Regions, Counties and Clubs).

What administration changes will come into effect?

There will be a change to Club Train and Club Compete.

The birth sex tab within the Online Membership System will now become an eligibility category where members will need to be registered as either male/open or female.

This criteria will also need to be captured when registering new members.

Existing members are able to update this information themselves and we would encourage you to remind them to do so.
