Proud Day at Ponds Forge for Our County Team!
What a weekend it was!
Last Sunday (4 October), our County Team made the trip to Ponds Forge in Sheffield to take on the very best in the National County Team Championships, and we couldn't be prouder of every single swimmer who pulled on the county cap.
This was a special occasion for us. After earning promotion last year, it was our first appearance in Division 1 for a number of years, and the team rose to the challenge brilliantly. Racing against the strongest counties in the country, our swimmers gave it everything from the first race to the final relay.
There were outstanding performances across the whole team, including several first-place finishes, and no disqualification. This all reflects the discipline, preparation and hard work our swimmers and coaches put in.
The team finished 18th out of 20. Unfortunately, the bottom four teams are relegated to Division 2, so we'll be dropping back down next season. But make no mistake: holding our own in the top flight is a real achievement, and the experience gained will stand everyone in good stead. We got there once, and we fully intend to get back!
A huge thank you to all our swimmers, coaches, team managers, officials and the parents and supporters who travelled to cheer the team on. Your energy made all the difference.
Well done, everyone. Onwards and upwards!
