Volunteer Opportunity – County Secretary for LASA

LASA is currently seeking a volunteer to take on the important role of County Secretary. We are contacting our clubs to ask whether you, or someone you know, might be interested in helping to support swimming across Leicestershire.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of swimming in the county and work with a friendly, supportive Executive Committee.

The Secretary is a key member of the Executive Committee and helps ensure the smooth running of the County's administration. The role is voluntary and includes:

• Organising and attending the monthly online Executive Committee meetings, including sending meeting invitations, preparing agendas and circulating reports submitted by Executive members.

• Preparing and distributing the minutes of Executive Committee meetings to all affiliated clubs.

• Managing correspondence received via the Secretary's email account.

• Compiling the County Annual Report by bringing together reports from Executive members.

• Distributing general information, reports and other communications to clubs as required.

• Organising occasional ad hoc meetings when needed.

The Secretary is one of the County's Executive Officers, alongside the Chair and Treasurer. Together, they are responsible for interpreting and upholding the LASA Constitution and Bye-laws and ensuring that affiliated clubs comply with mandatory Swim England affiliation requirements.

Ideally, applicants will have some knowledge of swimming or club administration, be confident using Microsoft Word (or equivalent software), and be familiar with Google Workspace applications such as Gmail and Google Drive. However, previous experience is not essential, and full support, guidance and any necessary training will be provided.
