Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator Vacancy

LASA Coat of arms with two golden seahorses flanking a shield featuring waves, a fox, and a rose. Text: "A·S·A Leicestershire" on a ribbon.

LASA is looking for a committed and compassionate volunteer to drive our work on diversity and inclusion across the County. Leicestershire is home to vibrant communities, including one of the UK’s first cities with no ethnic majority and a population where nearly 1 in 5 people are disabled. Yet these groups remain underrepresented in swimming and aquatic sports. At LASA, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to thrive in our sports, on their own terms.

About the Role

As our Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator, you will:

  • Act as a key link between LASA, local clubs, and Swim England

  • Promote and share resources, training, and funding opportunities that support inclusive practice

  • Champion access and participation for disabled people and underrepresented groups

  • Help clubs understand how they can remove barriers to engagement and belonging

  • Be a trusted point of contact for equality-related queries (not including welfare safeguarding issues)

This is a voluntary role with full training and support provided by both Swim England and

LASA’s Executive Officers. You’ll also be part of a wider national network of inclusion

champions working to make aquatic sports for everyone.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Believes in fairness, representation, and the power of sport to change lives

  • Is willing to listen, learn, and challenge exclusion where it exists

  • May have lived experience of disability (though this is not essential)

You don’t need a background in aquatics, just a willingness to work with others and help

shape a more inclusive community.

Interested or Want to Know More?

We’d love to hear from you. Please contact Angela Lake at secretary@leicestershireasa.org

for more information or an informal chat. Alternative formats or access support can be

provided, just let us know.

Together, we can build a more inclusive future for swimming in Leicestershire.
