Team Leicestershire Gain Promotion to Division 1!

Huge congratulation to all the swimmers who took part, and a big thank you to the Coaches, Team Managers, officials, volunteers and spectators who traveled to see this spectacular event.


A Team of 29 swimmers from Leicestershire journeyed to Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Sunday 5th October to represent the county at the Go Cardless National County Team Championships.


This is the most prestigious national team competition in the Swim England calendar with 39 teams competing from all the home countries involving over 900 swimmers.

The Leicestershire Team Captains for the day were Darcie Platts & Finlay Gibson who led the following team:

Sophie Lane, Chole Morley, Ivy Brown, Connie Kyle,Catherine Yates, Janie Finch, Emily Hewitt, Holly Gent, Olivia Faustmann, Alyssa Lo, Niamh Dunbar, Chiara Reedha, Max Burdett, Laurence Wickins, George Howard, Ali Jamili, Sebastian casey, Gabriel Corbett, James Nightingale, Jack Smith, Freddie Burdett, Marshall Golder, Callum Shiells, Mason Routledge, Edward Rosnovat, James Hockey


The swimmers competed in individual and relay events across 3 age groups, 12/13 yrs, 14/15 yrs and 16/17 yrs in a bid to gain maximum points for their team. The top 4 teams with the highest points in Division 2 gain promotion to Division 1 (while the bottom 4 in Division 1 drop down to Division 2).


Leicestershire finished 4th, achieving that all important promotion place. It has been some years since Leicestershire was in Division 1. Well done swimmers!
